Our Founder
Justice Murtaza Husain was born on 8th December 1920 in the historical town of Faizabad, UP, India. He completed his LLB from Canning College (University of Lucknow) and became a Munsif in the year 1944. His exemplary work saw him being promoted to District Judge in the year 1968 and eventually promoted to Judge in Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench in the year 1976. After his retirement, he served twice as Lokayukta of Uttar Pradesh from 1983 to 1989. His decisions in some of the very complicated litigations are and will always remain a landmark in the history of Law.
Justice Murtaza Husain was a voracious reader and a connoisseur of English, Urdu, and Persian literature and Poetry. He authored many books on different subjects in addition to his autobiography.
Justice Murtaza Husain, a great Visionary, founded the Unity Technical Institute Society in 1996 with the primary goal of offering everyone access to professional and technical education and this led to the foundation of his dream college i.e. Unity Degree College in the year 1998. The first self-financed college established in North India for minorities was Unity Degree College. In the year 2018, with the commencement of the Post Graduate course, Unity Degree College was upgraded to Unity Post Graduate College (UPGC).
His legacy will carry on through his values, thoughtfulness, and compassion for all persons find manifestation in the deeds of his lifetime. We all are proud to be a part of his mission.
